Is ASUS ROG STRIX GL503 GE a Great Deal or a Flop? – The Million Dollar Question

When it comes to budget gaming laptops, ASUS is the name that excels in all spectrums. The new ROG STRIX GL503 GE is one of its gaming laptops designed for passionate gamers looking for entry-level notebooks.

Never judge the book with its front page. This statement stands true in the terms of this laptop. This may look like a premium laptop because of it is vivid, bright display and RGB keyboard with customizable backlighting, but it is much more than that.

The brand certainly has worked on enhancing the user’s experience. The NVIDIA GTX 1050 GPU along with Core i7 CPU is quite robust, but the data transfers and reboots take enough time and hybrid SSD is also slow.

Built and Design

The looks can make you feel that it is among the premium range of the ASUS. The reason is it has copied the lid from one of its flagship notebooks. The black aluminum lid features the ROG bronze color Logo along with an eye-catching diagonal stripe. The overall design is quite amazing and stunning, but it would be great if the brand replaces the ROG logo with something more attractive.

The 15.6-inch, 1080p display is surrounded by a thick bezel, an island style sRGB backlit keyboard and a soft touch deck which is colorful and bright.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard is quite sufficient as it offers 1.9mm of key travel that needs 68 grams of force to press. On the keyboard, you will get dedicated keys for adjusting volumes, accessing the gaming centre, muting a headset and more. However speaking about the 4.1 x 2.8-inch touchpad, it is not so pleasant to use, so it’s better to use a gaming mouse with it.

The laptop is does not make gaming experience easy and fun for gamers with its outdated features.

GTX 1050 GPU

Gaming and Graphics

Strix’s GTX 1050 GPU cannot be termed as one of the most powerful graphics cards. You can play various at the modest settings. There are not much features or thrill left for high-speed game.

Battery Life

This compact laptop by ASUS lasts for just 3 hours and 32 minutes including browsing the web with Wi-Fi. The average is 6:13 that includes without gaming focused GPUs.

Software and Warranty

The window of the ASUS ROG Strix bloats as usual. The brand stuck to gaming software on this laptop. However, it comes with a one-year warranty.

ASUS ROG Strix GL503 GE comes with 2.8-GHz Intel Core i7-7700 HQ CPU, a 1 TB SSHD hybrid drive and 16 GB RAM. It takes 2 minutes and 38 seconds to copy files of 4.97 GV for the rate of 32.3 Mbps. The speed is quite decent, but I think it could have been a little better.

Final Verdict

ASUS ROG Strix GL503 offers a premium look along with strong battery life and a beautiful screen. But, it is not in the race of one of the best entry-level gaming laptops. You can get many amazing specs for a lower cost that is the plus-point of investing on this gaming laptop.
